The latest
incarnation of that perennially popular masterpiece Jane Eyre
was filmed in large part at Haddon Hall - a five minute drive
from our front door. It stars Mia Wasikowska, Jamie Bell and
Judi Dench. However the star of the film stayed here at Sheriff
Lodge - yes, you guessed it, Pilot, Mr Rochester's dog! If you want to learn more you can click here to see an interview with Judi Dench about Jane Eyre.

We are fortunate to live in a very popular area for location directors. Just lately our local area has featured in a number of Hollywood Blockbusters. One recent hit was The Wolfman starring Benicio del Toro, Emily Blunt and Anthony Hopkins. This is just one in a long line of movies that has chosen Chatsworth House as its backdrop. Others recently include The Duchess and Pride & Prejudice, both of which starred Keira Knightley - I think she likes the place.

Additionally
the BBC have used Haddon Hall as a location for Jane Eyre
- which was a stunning production and featured, of course, the
burning down of Thornfield Hall by Mrs Rochester. On the night
that this was filmed Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service
received in excess of 150 fire calls from concerned members of
the public (I know because I work for Derbyshire Fire &
Rescue Service).
Haddon Hall was also used as a location for The Other Boleyn Girl starring Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansen
